Apple Unveils The New iPad
Apple has announced the latest version of the iPad, which will feature a 9.7-inch ‘Retina Display’ with a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels (264PPi), a A5X processor with a quad-core GPU, 4G LTE connectivity, 5-Megapixel camera with 1080p video capabilities and new voice dictation facilities. The iPad will come per-loaded with iOS 5.1 and will be available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants.
The price band of the iPad will remain the same from the previous generation with the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions costing $499, $599 and $699 respectively while the 4G LTE versions will cost an additional $130 rounding off the range of iPads at $629 for 16GB, $729 for 32GB and $829 for 64GB models. The device will start shipping from March 16 onwards but unfortunately for us India is not amongst the first wave of countries receiving the iPad.
Notably Apple is claiming the same 10 hours of battery life on the 4G models in normal use and an unheard of 9 hours of battery life in 4G modes. Apple has also announced updates for its iWork suite and iMovie apps for the iPad and at the same time announced a version of iPhoto for the iPad, which costs $4.99.
